First they loved Charleston. Then they loved photography. And that lead to their love for each other. Both having found themselves separately relocating from different cities, Katie and Justin followed something inside themselves to take a chance on a new city. Once here, a love for photographing their beautiful new hometown lead to a chance meeting on instagram. And from there a whirlwind romance ensued. True to their newfound Charleston loving style, their first date was at Shem Creek, their first I loves yous were exchanged at a Sullivan’s Island beach, and their engagement on a boat leaving from the Charleston Harbor. All that was left was a wedding at the gorgeous  Historic Rice Mill.

I could not have picked a better wedding to be my first here in Charleston, and even though a little of that had to do with the beautiful waterfront property of the Historic Rice Mill, most of it had to do with the overwhelming sense of love surrounding the day.  I also often think that the people you surround yourself with are a reflection of yourselves, and in this case, those surrounding you Katie and Justin are just about some of the friendliest group of people I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. Not only did they not question it when I had them scaling bricks walls to hang bridesmaid dresses for the perfect shot, they made it one of the funniest parts of my day.

Katie and Justin, there was part of me that was nervous knowing just how important photography was to the two of you on your big day because it meant there was no room for error. But an even bigger part of me knew that it meant you’d given me the incredible opportunity to tell your story and create family heirlooms for you that would truly would be treasured forever. And that honor far outweighed any nerves I felt on your wedding day, an honor for which I cannot thank you enough. You are incredible people individually, even better as a pair, and I am lucky to count you as friends.

And Katie and Justin, because I am a firm believer in whatever you are trying to say someone has always said it better, there is really only one way to end this. Dilly dilly.
