THE BUNKERS | HISTORIC DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON FAMILY PHOTOS

Dirty Dancing. Blacksburg, Virginia. The Hokies. These are just a few of my favorite things. And they all also happen to be things Jaime and I bonded over when planning out her family photo session in downtown Charleston. We chatted about how Jaime is a photographer herself and sometimes shoots at the same place that Dirty Dancing was filmed. AMAZING. She and her family live right outside of Blacksburg, which is where I went to college at Virginia Tech, and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. We already had so much in common.

Much like Blacksburg is one of my favorite places, Charleston is one of Jaime’s. She attended physical therapy school here at MUSC, so when planning a family trip down here with her husband Mark, and their four adorable kids, Reese, Owen, Avery and Cragun, she knew she wanted photos of them with the things that make Charleston just so darn charming, like the cobblestone streets, iron gates, and cotton candy colored buildings.
The Bunkers showed up to Chalmers Street for their photos looking like a million bucks, but the sweet personalities of their kids is what really made this family photo session so much fun.  Reese was the perfect leader of the four, taking care of her little brother Cragun when we snuck mom and dad away for just a few shots of their own. Owen was fun and playful and honestly I think he was smiling in EVERY single picture I took of him… which is pretty rare for kids! And sweet little Avery greeted me with a hug and proceeded to  give me about ten more over the hour we spent together.  My heart was melting.  You can tell just how much time Jaime and Mark have put into raising their brood to be respectful, care for each other, and have fun, and I’m in awe of how much energy they had after a long day in the car with four kids five and under. Parent role models for sure.
Jaime, I hope these photos are everything you were hoping for when picturing your sweet family walking around downtown Charleston, and they’ll be a wonderful reminder of your family trip to a city you love so much.  I can’t wait to keep up with you on Facebook and see how those adorable  kids of you and Mark continue to grow in the future!

This gorgeous Wild Dunes Resort wedding in  Charleston, SC for Megan and Ian truly was one of the most spectacular days, but the end result was completely different than what these two first had in mind for their wedding. When I met with Megan and Ian for a glass of wine over two years ago […]

Kelly and Steven are part of the 2021 #rideodyecouple family that waited longer than most to finally make it to their Charleston wedding. Having to postpone their wedding date not once, but twice due to CoVid wasn’t an easy decision, but it made their day at Cannon Green even sweeter when it finally arrived. When I walked into Kelly’s getting ready Airbnb, […]

As a Charleston wedding photographer,  I have to admit that I see a lot of really beautiful big gatherings, but lately there’s been a very special place in my heart for intimate elopements and gatherings.  And that’s exactly what Hannah and Matthew’s day was. A small gathering of just their nearest and dearest on the […]
