KRISTEN AND JOHN | AN ELEGANT DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON ENGAGEMENT

DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON ENGAGEMENT

Everything’s bigger in Texas? More like everything’s more friendly in Texas. Because these two Dallas dwellers? Some of the friendliest people you could meet. From the second Kristen and John came of out of their friend’s house that they were staying with in Charleston to meet me in my car to head further downtown for their engagement session, I knew that it was going to be a great morning. Because before they had even opened their mouths, their friendly and big smiles filled their faces as they approached. And once they did open their mouths? John was just about the most polite Texas gentleman you could imagine, and Kristen instantly felt like someone who could have been one of my friends from college. We were already off to a great start and not a single photo had even been taken yet

Kristen obviously looked to die for – and so did you John! – and you guys, the sun hadn’t even come up yet! So once it started to peak above the trees in Hampton Park where we began their session, she just became that much more beautiful. Go to Hampton Park on any given day and you’ll likely see joggers, families walking around, other photography sessions taking place, people walking their dogs, and a whole lot more. But in the early parts of the morning their was a quiet calmness in the air, and it was really fun feel like the only people in our own little world.

Afterwards we headed downtown where Kristen was excited to get some quintessential Charleston shots including the  pastel colored buildings, iron gates, and palmetto trees. I had seen the pretty walls of The Mills House all over instagram before, but it wasn’t until this morning with Kristen’s perfect white dress that  I knew it would be a PERFECT backdrop for some fun pictures. And those quickly became some of my new favorite shots!!

We talked about their wedding plans as we took photos, and y’all, JUST you wait!! Their Lowndes Grove affair in April is going to be nothing short of spectacular. And I can’t wait!! Kristen and John, you both are awesome. So until your trip down the aisle in a few months, I’ll just be basking in the gorgeousness of the  two of you on this Charleston morning!

This gorgeous Wild Dunes Resort wedding in  Charleston, SC for Megan and Ian truly was one of the most spectacular days, but the end result was completely different than what these two first had in mind for their wedding. When I met with Megan and Ian for a glass of wine over two years ago […]

Kelly and Steven are part of the 2021 #rideodyecouple family that waited longer than most to finally make it to their Charleston wedding. Having to postpone their wedding date not once, but twice due to CoVid wasn’t an easy decision, but it made their day at Cannon Green even sweeter when it finally arrived. When I walked into Kelly’s getting ready Airbnb, […]

As a Charleston wedding photographer,  I have to admit that I see a lot of really beautiful big gatherings, but lately there’s been a very special place in my heart for intimate elopements and gatherings.  And that’s exactly what Hannah and Matthew’s day was. A small gathering of just their nearest and dearest on the […]
