KAITLYN AND TAYLOR | A ROMANTIC OLD WIDE AWAKE PLANTATION WEDDING

Pulling up to Old Wide Awake Plantation on the morning of Kaitlyn and Taylor’s wedding, there was a little bit of apprehension on my part because the weather reports were calling for rain on and off most of the day. And sure enough as I stepped out of my car to go greet Kaitlyn and her bridesmaids, rain started to fall. As always I had my clear bubble umbrellas ready to go, but I still couldn’t help but feel nervous that the weather would take something away from the day. All of that faded away just moments later as I saw Kaitlyn for the first time. If she had any nerves about the weather they sure weren’t showing. Instead, the calmness and pure radiance she possessed as a bride was filling the space around her making everything else seem to fade away.  And what do you know, but just a few minutes later the rain cleared up and left a beautiful day in its wake. It was as if Kaitlyn’s attitude had willed it to be.

The entire day was just absolutely beautiful beginning with the bride. Kaitlyn is a stunner, and just shone in front of my camera. I fell in love with their details including Taylor’s Rainbow Row bow tie, the bridesmaids’ soft pink gowns, the gorgeous florals, and of course their choice of music. The newlyweds danced to “From the Ground Up” by Dan and Shay, and if you know anything about me, you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dan and Shay. You may have even seen some embarrassing insta stories of my singing “Tequila” at their concert earlier this year haha!)
And y’all. One of the CUTEST parts of the day was Kaitlyn and Taylor’s Boston Terrier, Beau, who didn’t just make an appearance for the ceremony, but was a part of the entire day. He hung out of the guys getting ready, he stole the show walking down the aisle, and he even made some appearances on the dance floor. So stinking cute.
Kaitlyn and Taylor, the history you share together means that there’s so much strength in the foundation of your relationship. The two of you have literally grown together, which just means that you already know what it means to adapt and bring out the best in each other. There’s no doubt in my mind that the two of you will continue to do just that. I am so thankful to have witnessed such a beautiful love, and be just a tiny part of your story together. Thank you always for that gift!
Thank you to the amazing vendor team who made this day possible:

This gorgeous Wild Dunes Resort wedding in  Charleston, SC for Megan and Ian truly was one of the most spectacular days, but the end result was completely different than what these two first had in mind for their wedding. When I met with Megan and Ian for a glass of wine over two years ago […]

Kelly and Steven are part of the 2021 #rideodyecouple family that waited longer than most to finally make it to their Charleston wedding. Having to postpone their wedding date not once, but twice due to CoVid wasn’t an easy decision, but it made their day at Cannon Green even sweeter when it finally arrived. When I walked into Kelly’s getting ready Airbnb, […]

As a Charleston wedding photographer,  I have to admit that I see a lot of really beautiful big gatherings, but lately there’s been a very special place in my heart for intimate elopements and gatherings.  And that’s exactly what Hannah and Matthew’s day was. A small gathering of just their nearest and dearest on the […]
