Maybe it’s because I’ve known Grace since I was in middle school and she is one of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet. Maybe it’s because my little sister is one of her Maid of Honors and I saw the effort she and her fellow MOH Nicole put into making this day amazing. Maybe it was the thoughtful gifts her mother had clearly put so much thought into. Whatever it was, Grace’s shower was so full of love it was impossible not to feel it that day.
Being the amazing (cough cough) older sister that I am, I went over early that morning to help my little sister and Nicole set everything up, so I got to see it all come together from the beginning. It was a true family affair, with Grace’s mom getting all the food ready, her dad picking up a huge roasted pig, and her fiance Jonathan helping out as well. The decor really transformed the O’Sullivan’s backyard, and I loved the way they displayed Grace and Jonathan’s engagement photos because after all photos are meant to be printed!!
One of the most special moments of the day came when Grace’s mother presented her with a cross representing Brigid of Kildare, one of the patron Saints of Ireland. The cross is meant to be hung over the doorway of your home to protect it and those inside from any harm. Let’s just say Grace and her mom weren’t the only ones crying as she explained the significance of this gift.
I can’t wait to help celebrate as a guest at Grace’s wedding to Jonathan in November, but until then, Cheers to you future Mrs. Robinson!
