Engagement

BROOKE & RANDALL | A MIDDLETON PLACE AND ISLE OF PALMS ENGAGEMENT

Living in Charleston during Hurricane season can be a little bit of a rollercoaster, and planning this stunning engagement session with Brooke and Randall was no exception. Hurricane Florence was threatening to barrel into the East Coast, taking direct aim at the Carolinas, and it almost derailed our plans… but let’s back up to the beginning.

When Brooke, the MOST bubbly and fun NYC girl, first contacted me about her engagement session she explained to me her vision of capturing the Low Country at it’s finest by combining the beauty of both an area Plantation and a local beach. After reaching out to a few venues we settled on Middleton Place and Folly Beach. She could not have been more excited, and let me tell y’all that excitement was contagious! I simply couldn’t wait!

That’s where Hurricane Florence comes in. Brooke and Randall’s trip to Charleston got canceled due to the impending storm, and me and my family decided to evacuate to our brother and sister-in-law’s house in Tampa. While the impromptu vacation was nice, I was nervous plans to photograph Brooke and Randall might end up not working out. Luckily, they were able to replan their trip the following week and arrived in town the night before I was set to fly out. Talk about the stars aligning. Y’all, this session was meant to be. And the results were just as magical.

When I finally met Brooke and Randall (and Brooke’s mom Tara who was their chauffeur for the night, as well as the most fun and welcome addition to our photos!) we couldn’t have had a better time walking around Middleton Place. They are funny and kind and beautiful together, and just about everything you could ask for as a photographer. Our original plan to head to Folly changed because of their dinner plans on Isle of Palms that night, so we headed over there instead. And y’all. I am in love with the results.

Brooke and Randall, I could not be more THANKFUL for having crossed paths with y’all, and even more thankful that our plans worked out, even if it was the second time around. You two are going to make the most beautiful bride and groom walking down the aisle. Until then, I hope you love these photos just as much as I do!!

Kelly and Steven are part of the 2021 #rideodyecouple family that waited longer than most to finally make it to their Charleston wedding. Having to postpone their wedding date not once, but twice due to CoVid wasn’t an easy decision, but it made their day at Cannon Green even sweeter when it finally arrived. When I walked into Kelly’s getting ready Airbnb, […]

As a Charleston wedding photographer,  I have to admit that I see a lot of really beautiful big gatherings, but lately there’s been a very special place in my heart for intimate elopements and gatherings.  And that’s exactly what Hannah and Matthew’s day was. A small gathering of just their nearest and dearest on the […]
