BEN AND ELIZABETH | A MILLS HOUSE ROOFTOP WEDDING

I am not going to lie and tell you that being in the wedding business is easy.  It’s far from it. Being a wedding photographer means that you have to have people fall in love with not just the photos you take, but also the person that you are. There are times when it can be defeating and rejections are commonplace. But oppositely there are times when you just know are little winks from God that you are doing something right. When I walked into Elizabeth’s wedding day getting ready suite at the Planter’s Inn, and she handed me a bag with a card and a gift, it was one of those moments. She was taking time out the most important day of HER life to thank me for being there for her during the process, and she gifted me tassel earrings because she knows how much I love to wear them. It was so thoughtful and personalized just to me, that it means more to me than she probably even knows. Thank you Elizabeth.

Wait until you see Ben’s reaction to seeing Elizabeth for the first time. Oh my geeeeee. You guys, it is just so stinking adorable. When I say his face lit up like a Christmas tree, I mean it. It is one of my favorite first looks I have photographed in quite some time.
This day was filled with some of the most gorgeous details, like the pastel vintage bus we rode around downtown Charleston in before returning to take pictures in front of the iconic pink wall of the Mills House hotel. The arbor that was set up on the rooftop for them to exchange their vows under was breathtaking. But those details? They’re not why I will remember this day. I will remember this day for the way Ben looks at Elizabeth. For Elizabeth so eloquently including Jane Austen in her vows. For the way while these two danced to Truly Madly Deeply by Sound Garden (throw back to my teenage years!) they seriously could have been the only two ones in the room. The way their love for each other was so evident it was radiating around the room. Those are the things that make a wedding day unforgettable.
Ben and Elizabeth, I am so excited beyond words to wish you both the very best as you start your lives together as husband and wife. I thank you for letting me into your hearts and your lives, and for getting to tell such an important story for the two of you. Cheers to the two of you and all that the future holds for you! I am excited to see!

Kelly and Steven are part of the 2021 #rideodyecouple family that waited longer than most to finally make it to their Charleston wedding. Having to postpone their wedding date not once, but twice due to CoVid wasn’t an easy decision, but it made their day at Cannon Green even sweeter when it finally arrived. When I walked into Kelly’s getting ready Airbnb, […]

As a Charleston wedding photographer,  I have to admit that I see a lot of really beautiful big gatherings, but lately there’s been a very special place in my heart for intimate elopements and gatherings.  And that’s exactly what Hannah and Matthew’s day was. A small gathering of just their nearest and dearest on the […]
