To say that Jenn & Brad had a busy and exciting week leading up to their wedding in Frederick, Maryland last weekend would have been an understatement. Brad had just celebrated his graduation six days before they were set to wed and they had friends flying in from around the country to help them celebrate. Those same friends would be the ones who’d toast Jenn & Brad at their reception calling them both kid, good hearted, generous and caring friends, something I got to witness first hand with my time with them during their wedding day. When I say that they made me feel like I was just a friend hanging out that happened to have a camera in tow, I mean it.
We began the day at
New York New York Hair Salon & Day Spa and holy moly was it a dream. The salon itself is in an old home that the owner converted into a gorgeous retreat with sparkling chandeliers, fresh flowers, and THE MOST amazing floral wallpaper. I nearly skipped down the stairs to get Jenn’s dress to hang to start taking detail shots because of just how gorgeous this place was. The owner and stylists could also not have been nicer and more accommodating, and Jenn’s bridal party had a great time hanging out as the bride herself was as calm and relaxed as could be.
The ceremony and reception took place at the Old South Mountain Inn, where the outdoor courtyard and glass enclosed reception room made a beautiful backdrop for Jenn & Brad’s nuptials. Jenn’s nephew, Grant, nearly stole the show as the ring bearer with his cuteness and stopping to examine the camera while going down the aisle, but no one could take their eyes off of Jenn as she made her way to her soon-to-be husband, including Brad. I find it so geninely moving when the groom tears up at the sight of his bride, and this is exactly what happened when Brad saw Jenn. Just as quickly though, the officiant, a family friend of the bride, had everyone laughing in no time and the ceremony was full of joy.
Jenn’s inspiration for the florals and reception decor was the painting “Starry Night” by Van Gogh, which I thought was such a creative jumping off point. The vibrant colors looked gorgeous against the bridesmaid’s (and best woman’s) navy dresses, and the little touches such as a lego cake topper and different flavored cupcakes for dessert were perfect. But the best part of the night had to be just how much fun everyone had. Jenn had told me how excited she was about dancing the night away, and that’s exactly what everyone did. After all, Jenn & Brad had so much to celebrate. To the new Mr. & Mrs. Pfeffer, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be a part of such a love filled day. I know this is the start of a strong foundation for the two of you to build your lives on as husband and wife for years to come.
