It’s hard to believe I’ve known Allison for 13 years now. Meeting her freshman year of college at Virginia Tech would not only give me one of the best friends I could ever ask for, but it would also change the trajectoryof my life.If not for her, I would have never ended up in Charleston, SC, something I know couldn’t imagine my life without. So when she called to tell me a few months ago that she and Trevor would be welcoming not just one, but two little guys in July, I started to think back over those 13 years…
I’ve known Allison to be fiercely loyal. She will go to bat for you any day of the week. I’ve seen it time and time again. She’s lovingly generous. Some of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received — one of our engagement photos signed by Frank Beamer and Bud Foster (GO HOKIES!)– have come from her. Allison is endlessly fun. I’ve been wine tasting in Napa with her, salsa dancing in Puerto Rico, and zip lining in Belize, yet some of the best times I’ve ever had with her have been just golf carting around the neighborhood. But most of all, she’s passionate about the things that she loves the most. Her family and friends being first and foremost.
In his own right, Trevor, who has also become one of my best friends over the years is hilariously witty. He’ll come at you with zingers you weren’t expecting. He’s crazy dedicated. You should see his epic garden from which the best hot sauce you’ll ever come from derives… and I don’t use the word epic lightly. He’s the most knowledgable travel companion and is a connisseur for the good things in life. He’ll have you eating the greatfood and sipping on the bestwine while spotting Game of Throne actors at the table behind you. But most of all Trevor is laid back in the best possible way. He doesn’t let the little things get to him and there’s not much that can’t be solved by a day on the links.
Loyal, generous, fun, passionate, witty, dedicated, knowledgable, and laid back. All qualities that are not only going to make you awesome parents to your twin boys in a few months, but also the reason your baby shower was one of the best I’ve ever been to. With qualities like that, it’s hard for people to not want to celebrate you, and that was definitely true of this party. Lovingly planned by Allison’s parents, Marjorie and Bob, the showerwas the perfect celebration for the parents-to-be with catering from Lewis BBQ (one of the best new restaurants in Charleston), corn hole to entertain, cold drinks to quench everyone’s thirst, and just a lot of love all around.
It’s easy to think of a baby shower as a celebration for the two little guys who are about to join you on this crazy adventure of life, Allison & Trevor, and no doubt are Maverick and Nash already so loved. But remember how loved the two of you are as well, and let this great party be a reminder of that!
See that adorable fish onesie? Allison’s dad picked it out himself… the cutest!
I may or may not know how delicious this spritzer was… I’ll let you take a take a guess. 😉
